The best laid Plans etc.

And also, apparently, the more badly-laid what-the-hell-let's-give-this-a-go plans.

Here's the thing; my degree is a 5 year degree. This is why I'm such a fixture. This is going to be my 5th year, but, as we all know, assuming that you're just finished your degree is a hazardous thing, so the other day I went in to the Science faculty pretty much prepared for them to tell me I had 2 years still to go or something.

*deep breath for facing-admin-staff-courage*

And then they tell me that my degree is on track. Which is a bit of a surprise, actually. But there you go. But then they tell me that actually my degree is so freakishly on track, that I've been working so fiendishly hard, that I've so miraculously never failled a subject, nor even had to scrape a Concessional Pass that my degree will actually be done in 6 months.
1 semester.

Then that's it.

We're cutting you off, Ma'am, I think that's just about enough eductaion for you, shall I call you a taxi?

Dude. I knew that I'd been doing more subjects than almost anyone else I've ever come across, but what? I thought that was just my poor time-management or combined-degree-ness or something. Turns out, no.

But this is all *deep breath, positive outlook* really ok, because it's good to finish on time, I didn't want to be there for years, remember?

I have A Plan. I shall do an MBA and become, in time, obscenely rich etc., and I can do one at UNSW perhaps, since I live really close to there. The important thing is that I have plan.

So this morning I got so organised that I called the MBA people to see if I could start one as of next semester, because I don't like my chances of re-starting stuff after a break that long, because I'm just not that motivated.

But now it turns out that you have to have at least 2 years of Management Experience to do an MBA! Why? Nooooo!

So now, instead of cosy plans, in my "what will I be doing in August this year?" mental space, there's just a yawning gulf.

Aaargh!

In other news, Congratulations to Therese-and-Cameron and what apparently should have been a Mystery Couple on their impending Nuptuals! Huzzah for you people!

It seems to be a time of relationship instability, 2 couples whom I know (both people in each of) really well which have been going out for Ages have just broken up, and 2 couples of whom I know the girl really well but would be sceptical of the boy's ability to remember my name or pick me out of a lineup have gotten engaged. Strange.

Resist the urge to make big changes for a while yet, people! This is all suspiciously parallel and symetrical. Just think, getting engaged this month may be dooming a happy couple to put-assunder-hood, and to finally just break it off with the person you're going out with may force another to wed unexpectedly! If nothing else, that'll be a bugger for you, if you've just broken up, when you have to enthuse at your freshly engaged friends.

Therefore, I urge Restraint (but not the use of restraints unless you promise not to tell me about it) in relationships for at least the next two weeks or we'll end up with Proposal One-Up-Man-Ship.

Better still, I hereby declare Proposal Competition '07 open! Best proposal wins , entry nullified if engagement broken off. Most romantic and original proposal wins a prize (no, really!). Anyone who proposes,is proposed to, has proposed or has been proposed to in the Calendar Year of 2007 is eligible to apply!

Get Romancing, people!

Hehe, hilarity. I'm laughing out loud at work...

Now just need to find someone to propose to me - wait, doesn't count if engagement broken off? Doh! I guess I can't enter THAT competition.

*woot* for finishing your degree early. Take a BIG holiday! It'd be so cool! (Although apparently you'll have to be around in December).

Alicia, I've got a question to ask you.

so far contestants in this engagement competition are kathryn and therese... so we'd better be hearing detailed and wildly embellished details of engagements along the lines of:
"He hired a skywriter? Well, I didn't mention it before, but he hired a private yacht when he asked me to marry him, I just thought it was a small detail so I didn't mention it..."
C'mon, there's a present at stake!

Well, since Jazz doesn't come on blogs I thought I'd enter this competition on her behalf:

Although it's a very visual entry.

Jasmine got engaged the other day!!

She went to the toilet and
*turns knob*

bwahahahaa, soo good!
